Morning Sally,
Albert has given us the run around hasn't he............. just wish we could have found a father for him........... not looking good though is it??
Well seeing that the "Tales of the untracable Albert" have come to a close I shall no doubt be looking for other unsuspecting customers!!! Hopefully they'll be easier than Albert.......... how long have we been looking???
As for the Declaration bit, well I think Ninjalady may have found the answer; if the child wasn't born in the registration district, which it's looking like he wasn't, then she would have to make a birth declaration before registering him.......... chapter closed???
Have a great day Sally...... speak soon, Dee xxx

Good Morning Dee, Well think you have struck on something - thats what i was looking for unmarried mothers home or sim and as usual YOU come up trumps !!!!! I found the Rev Thomas Crow living there in 1886, and thought he may still have been there, but the Lord had taken him!!!!!!!!! Guess the house had been maybe turned into the home it was in 1891.?? I had found and looked "long hand" i may add, the Carnarvon Road, but they all had numbers on the Census 1891 no house names, i think you have found the answer to the question. What will you do now you have found out about the Lovely Albert !!!!!!! Regards Sallyxx

My friends Great Grandmother lived there in Aug 1892 after she had had a baby in Hornsey in June 1892 - i wonder if she was in service or maybe as she was a single mother was it a workhouse or sim??? I have at last got the birth cert for the baby and Ely House is address for the informant. Any help would be great. Thanks. Sally

And further Googling St Alethia's Church Stratford produces the unfo that Thomas Crow died 1886 and was a retired Baptist Minister and Temperance Reformer who lived at Rokeby House.A group of rational Christians registered a meeting at his house in 1875 and moved to park Avenue in 1882 where a permanent church was built in 1888.His son continued to support the church and it survived to 1903 or later

Is this your Thomas Crow ?
If it is, it looks like he may have died in 1886.
St. Alethia's Reformed Protestant church, Park Avenue, Stratford, was founded by Thomas Crow (d. 1886), a retired Baptist minister and temperance reformer who lived at Rokeby House. (fn. 144) A group of 'Rational Christians' registered a meeting at his house in 1875, and in 1882 moved to Park Avenue, where a permanent church was built in 1888. (fn. 145) His son continued to support the church after his death, and it survived until 1903 or later.
Death ? Thomas Crow (Age 61) W Ham 4a 14
Reasonably confident it IS him so sending on the census.

Googling produces the Stratford Trade Directory 1886 which shows that Rev Thomas Crow was Minister of St Alethia's Reformed Church in Park Avenue Stratford so will not be listed in CROCKFORDS which is the Cof E Clergy Directory referred to above

There are still a couple of carnarvon Roads in London (no "e") but I have no idea where stratford is (apart from the real one near to me, ho ho!) But seriously, it might be possible to find building if we have a specific area. Jan

You can search the 1881 for free on Familysearch or Ancestry. You should be able to search by address as well. If you can find him on there and provide a bit more detail for the 1891 I'm sure someone could have a look for him on there.
Isn't there also a vicar's directory - Cocksfords or something? Don't quote me on that - again, someone will remember the correct name.
