Find Ancestors

I have found a baptism record for a Henry ballard born 20/9/1898 parents listed as henry and emily ballard, emilys previous surname was Garner. Henry and Emily were married in Salford 29/1/1898 Emily's father was Henry Garner a metal worker and Henry's father was James henry Ballard who was deceased at the time of their marriage. Could be the right line back?

Little is known about the parents Henry BALLARD and his wife Lily (nee FRYER b/ 1895) and what became of them. I have the birth certificates for Lily together with those of her 4 children:-
1. Frances Morrison FRYER b/ 1916 Hulme, Manchester
2. Lily BALLARD b/1917 Moss Side, Manchester
3. John Henry BALLARD b/1919 Ardwick, Manchester
4. George E. BALLARD b/1923 Salford, Manchester.
It is also believed there was a subsequent child Dennis of which I have yet to find any trace.
I have now resigned myself to the fact that possibly never married. In the meantime I will follow up the 1939 Death record for a Henry Ballard provided by Sylvia. Am hoping that if I can find death/burial records it will enable progress going back on the Ballard side of things.

Could Lily have possibly been married before?

............ you didn't, and I think still don't, have to show a marriage certificate as proof that your were / are married

Can't see a marriage on freebmd.

Maybe they didn't actually marry ...lots didn't.

So what was the surname of the child Frances on her birth certificate with no father ( Fryer ?)

Looking for any information on Henry Ballard and his wife Lily. Know that they lived in the Stretford/Salford area of Manchester area circa 1920s. Henry Ballard's wife Lily was born 1895 in Salford. She had a daughter Frances in March 1916 with no father's details on the birth certificate. The following year in August 1917 she gives birth to another daughter Lily whose birth certificate shows father as Henry Ballard & mother as 'Lily Ballard formerly Fryer'. This would suggest Henry Ballard & Lily Fryer married between those dates however unable to find any marriage record on the County Record Office Indexes and from GRO. Have not been able to trace any death records for Henry & Lily Ballard.

Looking for information on Henry Ballard who resided in the Manchester area with wife Lily (nee Fryer) and children Lily (b/1917), John (b/1919) and George (b/1923).
To date have not been able to find marriage or death record for the parents Henry & Lily. Would like to find the marriage record to continue the Ballard line back.
