I don't know he's dead, but it's a not unreasonable assumption, and I've no knowledge that he had any kids.

Apparently GR agrees with me. Their rule is their rule, and they have been enforcing it. No personal info about third parties.

I see absolutely no reason to smear the intimate details of the immediate family of a person or persons who may be living all over the internet.

And I really am worn out explaining the difference between an "open record" on a site where basic details can be found by someone who knows what s/he is looking for and the presentation of those details in a DISCUSSION of the INTIMATE DETAILS of a family's relationships on a website where it can be found by any search engine by anyone looking for any of those names.

I don't know where you're getting 75 years, mgnv. We are looking at a marriage in 1960 and children who may have been born to that couple, i.e. who may well be younger than me.

Janey - I don't see how a hypothetical relationship which only makes sense if the putative wife has been dead for 60+ y concerns a living person. If Sylvie's post has any relevance, we're talking abt a 75 y old marr here, and even BC allows that to be open record.

As for any possible kids, who knows that there are any - seems we've gone into don't ask, don't tell mode there, as is appropriate.

My point is that their children, who may be illegitimate children of an adulterous relationship (I am not expressing any judgment of that fact myself, but the fact is that many would), may not wish these facts to be broadcast, and in fact may not even know them.

I once put my own name into google, and discovered that someone had lifted a posting I had made on Friends Reunited (the parent company of GR), and re-posted it on Bidfrenzy. Now I never went on Bidfrenzy, was not a member, and could not access the site to see what had been posted under my name




but that is the sort of thing that can very easily happen!
\\\\and it does mean that if someone enters their name in google (or a rellie's name), then they may well be led to a thread such as this here on GR


I did however think that 1933 marriage was early enough that both parties might well be dead by now!

Meanwhile, Ancestry is giving me this:

I'm going to wait to tomorrow to see how people respond to the suggestion that this kind of recent info not be posted publicly in the context of discussions of things like adultery and illegitimacy ...

FreeBMD doesn't go that far yet.

We have wandered into the realm of personal information about possible living people again.

Yes, the marriage record is in the GRO and findable at Ancestry.

The GRO record doesn't contain speculation about people living together while one of them is still married to someone else.

The GenesReunited management is taking a quite properly dim view of this kind of personal info being posted. It can easily be provided by PM.

One wonders if Ralph was already marr by1944ish, and they couldn't get marr until 1st wife died.

To obtain any type of certificates there are several ways you can go about it. Because your certificates are in the UK the most cost effective way is to purchase them on-line from the General Register Office. The cost is 7 pounds per certificate.

The web address is http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Other sites have them available but usually more expensive.

I believe you can visit the place if you wish.

I am not certain if there are transcription agents available for UK certificate information. Perhaps someone else can answer that question. Hope this helps.

Ennis, If you are there could you please confirm your "assume marriage around 1944" information. The searches are bring up a marriage in the 1960s.

This is a bit strange. When I put the names and dates into the FreeBMD search it comes up blank. In Ancestry I find these matches.

I am trying to find details of a marriage without knowing the mans christian name, is this possible.my relative is bettie brenda lloyd born in 1924 father george w lloyd, mother elizabeth a lloyd(ditchfield).bettie married and became bettie brend credland .she was born in the runcorn area(poss frodsham),and i assume was married in that area. can anyone help? once again assume marriage around 1944+
