IM AM TRYING TO FIND OUT SOME MORE INFORMATION ON MY GRANDDADS DAD HE WAS CALLED JOHN WILLIAM SNAPE BORN POSSIBLE 1906 CUDWORTH AND HIS MOTHER WAS ELSIE BARTON BORN POSSIBLY 1908 LEEDS. THEY ONLY HAD ONE CHILD CALLED JOHN WILLIAM SNAPE BORN 1930 (HE IS MY GRANDDAD).

BUT MY GRANDDADS GRANDDAD WAS ALSO CALLED JOHN WILLIAM SNAPE AND HE MARRIED A FLORENCE BRAITHWAITE.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SIMILAR INFORMATION?

IF YOU CAN HELP WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.

Have you looked on FreeBMD for any of the births or marriages,
You should be able to find the marriage to Florence Braithwaite on there.That cert will give you his age at marriage and his dads name so helping you to go back another generation

Looks like the whole family are on the 1911 census in West Yorkshire, father John and mother Florrie..........it is a pay to view site so you will need to purchase credits to look at the original census, this will also list any siblings also.

Hello Ladies

Thank you so much for all the help you have just given me im very new to all this but you all are really good. this is the second ever thread i have ever posted as i normally do just name searches on here but i have had so much good help on both my posts now. im very grateful, thank you!!

i will follow all this information up and yes it is correct that lillian, elsies sister, did marry albert, albert being john william snapes brother.

also gertrude, im not 100 percent on who she married all i know is that i have her up to the 1901 census as a servant in leeds but then in the 1911 census there is no trace of her. i'm pretty sure this is because she emigrated to australia but i cant find an exact match for her on the passenger lists although again im still learning about where to look, i tried passenger lists on findmypast.com. i have a will which she is part of from a relative that died and her address on this lady's will is chatswood australia.
