Hi again Glitter Baby-I managed to find Grace and Margaret in the online 1851 Dumfriesshire census and am sure now this is the right family as the one I am trying to link them to has the middle name Barton and there is a Mary Barton cousin of Margaret Scott's father living with them.grace is with a David Carruthers her uncle apparently,in st Mungo parish. The Scott family is in a house called north Cowshaw in Tinwald ,Dumfriesshire which I;m hoping will help you find them in the 1861. |

Thanks Helen and Glitter Baby-I think you've gotten most of it for me except maybe who Margaret Hunter was married to.Can you find her in 1861,1871,81 or 91.I tried the '81 myself but couldn't get her.Maybe she never married but just took the name of the baby's father? |

Thanks both of you.I think the 1891 and 1861 info is right and probably the marriage but not the 1871 though the names are there. the James Carruthers in the 1861-was he born Kirkpatrick parish, please? that's where Thomas Scott's brother in law David Carruthers was born. |
