Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me find the death of my Great grandmother, She remarried a William Travis in 1911 Sculcoates Hull, Yorkshire, her name was Alice Mary Bennett her birth was 1864 Hull Yorkshire. Thank you to anyone that can. regards Lynn

When was she last known to be alive?

Did she witness any marriages to give a clue?

Was she the informant on her husbands death cert?

A very long trawl through the indexes without some idea of when she died

if its not listed on FreeBMd then its a trawl through the full records on one of the subs sites like Ancestry. As she could have lived up to 1964 it would be too big a job to undertake.Each year has to be searched by the quarter so a 10 year search would mean 40 look ups. You could take the 14 day free trial on Ancestry and do the look ups a bit at a time.

I wonder if she remarried yet again...?

Hi thank you to all that as tried to help me. I have sent for the marriage certificate, and I received it this morning, This Alice M Bennett married Wm Travis and then Ernest Kendall. This Alice is not my Alice, as this one is Alice Maud, not Alice Mary Bennett, nee Powell, b/1864, my Alice married a Henry John Bennett, m/1885, Sculcoates. and he died 14th May 1910, and only their son Ernest was in attendance at the death. 65 Laburnum Avenue, Hull.

Do you know when William Travis died?

Are you sure Alice didn't marry a third time?? I know you said that on the marriage posted above she was Alice Maud and not Alice Mary- but this could've been a mistake. Are the father's names the same? It just seems an unusual coincidence.

Now I am confused!!- I think this is Lynn's Alice in 1911 living with Ernest:

Hi again. My Alice was Alice Mary Powell, b/1864/65, she married Henry John Bennett. Her father was Samuel Powell. When her husband died she was not on the death certificate, their son was Ernest, he also had a son Ernest born 1911. Her husband died 1910. We cant find a death for her any where. They keep sending me birth, marriage and death certificates for the other Alice whose middle name is Maud, Please some one Help me. Lynn

You wrote "This Alice M Bennett married Wm Travis and then Ernest Kendall"- but I can't find a marriage for another Alice Bennett marrying a William Travis- I can only see your Alice marrying William Travis- and this is why I'm questioning whether she married a third time.

Do you have the above marriage certificate?

I don't mind looking through the death indexes- but I need to be certain what name she died under- you may have problems finding her under Travis if she remarried and became a Kendall.

I hope it's not just me- I apologise if it is!!

Your first post says that your Great grandmother, Alice Mary BENNETT married William TRAVIS in 1911.
A later post says that it was Alice Maud who married William TRAVIS.

When was the last known sighting of your Alice?
Have you checked in 1911 to see who was at the home address of her husband ( as shown on his death cert.)?
Do we KNOW she out-lived him?

I believe i have confused everyone, and my self. I thought she had remarried and become Alice Travis, but this Alice is not mine, this one is Alice Maud. When i received the marriage certificate this morning, It was the one above i got, not my Alice Mary Bennett. sorry to all Lynn

Last known sighting was about 1926/28 in Sigglethorne, near Hull, Yorkshire. Lynn

So we are looking for deaths for Alice (Mary) Bennett after 1926- possibly near Hull in Yorkshire.

This seems to be the most likely:

(bear in mind ages are only as accurate as the informant)

The only other Alice M Bennets within the right age range were these- but none appear to be in the right area:

Alice M Bennett age 74: Camelford 1937 Oct- Dec 5c 8

There were also these registered without the 'M':
