Bought birth cert and still can't find!

Hi everyone,

I was struggling to find anything about my GGrandad's parents anywhere in the census so I bought his birth certificate. His parents are James Bass and Amelia Bass (formerly Spooner). My G Grandad was born in September 1901 in Tottenham, Middlesex and he was their first child. I have looked everywhere and can't find any record of a James and Amelia Bass!

Any help would be gratefully recieved...
