Nicky

I have the Warborough P/Rs transcribed by Oxfordshire FHS (plus several adjoining parishes)

There is not much Oxfordshire info on the IGI as the Bishop would not allow the LDS to film the registers (still will not !)

Hi Elizabeth, Can I be really cheeky and ask if the Warborough P/R you have cover the area of Shillingford? I think I may have made a breakthrough with help from others and wondered if your CD covers Shillingford and if you would mind checking to see if a Daniel Gammon was born in Shillingford to parents Robert and Sophia Gammon c1805 and brother William Gammon born c1813 also to the same parents. Many thanks. Nicky

Shillingford was a hamlet and came under Warborough-it did not have it;s own registers-I will get back with the info you request though I have found a William Gammon baptised 10 May 1818 s William & Jaly ?

More to come !!

They all appear to have survived !

Which William ? !

The only William Gammon buried at Warborough is in 1859 age 72 which would give a birth c 1785

I have "nudged up " Margaret Roses' thread "Oxfordshire Look ups" on Records she has the Oxfordshre Marriage Index and may be able to find the marriages of William & Sarah and Robert & Sophia which are not at Warborough

You may have to wait for her to check her thread I think she works away but seems to get back every now and again-worth a try !

Let me know if you want anything else looked up-I do not mind a bit !"

Cheers

Nicky

Thank you so much Elizabeth. You have confirmed what I needed to know in that Robert and Sophia not only had a son William born 1813 who I think is the father of the Jane Gammon I was looking for, but that they also had a son Daniel Gammon born 1805 in Shillingford. To cut a very long story short, I have been given a beautiful photo of the Gammon family which was in some old possesions of the Caudwell family. My aim was to try and link my Jane Gammon married to Henry Caudwell with the Gammon people in the photo. I felt there had to be a connection, else why would the Caudwells have had the photo. Anyway, I managed to build a skeleton tree of the people in the photo (luckily they were named) but couldn't find the link to Jane. It would now appear that I have that link as Daniel Gammon born 1805 being the brother of William Gammon born 1813 would have been Jane Gammon's uncle. Thank you so much for all your help - you've been a gem! Regards, Nicky
