When was Netta born?

Tries 1891 & 1901 Wales & England. No sign of her with a dad Charles. Lots of Annie Jones were servants in those census

No none! Its driving me mad...

From family we thought she born in Wales. I know not to rely on what you are told but it goes like this

Annie Jones (yes Jones aggghhhh) from marriage & death certs 1884 - 1885. She married Thomas Upton in 1904 in Bristol

Story has it that Thomas went to Wales to work in the mines and bought her back to Bristol where he sent her to work in a pub. From marriage cert her dad was Charles Jones a farmer, deceased. Thomas is home with mum and dad in 1901 census in Bristol

Now Annie had a sister called Lil (could be Lil, Lily, Elizabeth) who married a Mr Adams. They had a daughter NETTA ADAMS and lived in Weston Super Mare. I have been trying to find a marriage for a ADAMS to a Jones to see if I can find more that way but no luck!

Have you found her on any census other than 1911?

Definatley the person I am looking for, with her hubby and kids

She was born about 1884/1885, marriage cert says aged 20 in 1904 and death cert 74 in 1959. Dad wad dead when she married.

Many people did not know where they were born....they just put down the place which was their earliest recollection of 'home'

Having viewed several census page images I have found the writing does not always match for each persons name.

Im wondering if some wrote their own details especially if they were visitors
Just rechecked and definitely different writing . Father wrote his bit. Mother filled in her and the kids .Brother in law his bit and father signed and added address details

No proof is required..........think back to2001...........

So they didnt have to prove where they were born or anything, just what they told the numerator?

the enumerator didn't fill in the forms, unless the whole houselhold were illiterate.

The head of the household had that responsibility

I think (but i could be wrong), that the head of the household actually filled in the information.

"Forms are distributed with instructions to be completed on a specified date (usually a Sunday) and then collected. Enumerators also helped fill in the forms if no one in the household was literate, and corrected any mistakes. "

Does any one know how accurate the 1911 census is? Did the numerator just record what info was given to them by the person ie place of birth?
