Choccy - the 1891 looks a great possibility. Listed along with the mother is Mary E aged 22. She was my Gt. Grandmother. So if josiah died in 1901, I will not bother trying to trace any descendants |

Death certificate shows when and where he died, name, sex, age, occupation, cause of death, name and address of informant (doesn't have to be a relative) and when registered. |

Yes Choccy, that very much looks like the death of the mother and son. If I sent for his death cert. what information would it give |

Forget that Julia, I've found a Joseph Harding in the 1881 census born in Great Bridge. |

Hello Choccy, I suppose it is possible. After reading your post, I asked myself, why would he come to the Chesterfield area. Then I remembered that in the 1881 cenus, he was an iron foundry worker, in West Brom. I know there was an iron foundry for many years in Clay Cross, which is in the Chesterfield area. So, yes, it is a good possibility. |

Does anybody think this could be him - now calling himself Joseph (and marrying as Joseph by the way). His place of birth is the same as on the 1871 census |

Please can any kind person take this vexing query beyond the 1881cenusus for me. For instance, did he marry, did he emigrate. |

Helen, yes that most certainly looks like him. It is after the 1881 that I am interested in. Also, who was the Edith Jones 9 and William R Nicholls 22, were they lodgers? |

I am trying to trace any information on the above person b. 1858 in West Brom. I can find him on the 1881 with his mother Mary Ann Harding (Widow) b 1836 Cheshire, and would also like to know more about her, after this date. If possible I would like to know her single name and who here husband was etc. Also present on this date was a daughter Mary Elizabeth b 1869 West Brom. I think I have all her details, as she was my Gt. Grandmother, with the exception of her death in the early 1900's in Newark, Notts |
