I'd be very grateful if someone could possibly look for the following in the Plymouth Reg Office Please.

A marriage between Williams & Opie.
Believe in the date range of 1882 - 1911

He being John Williams & she Minnie Opie.
But not 100% sure if Minnie is the correct forename, so any Williams & Opie would be a great help.

Many many thanks for reading.
Best regards.

do you have another thread about this Minnie Opie?
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1139682

( history board, I'll budge it back up)
That is a big span - what gives you those dates?

Hi, Yes I do, do I need to continue on this same thread, sorry if this is so. Thought had to re do for Records.

We have not been able to find a marriage so far, I have been advised to check in reg office in Plymouth as for some reason they are not always on line from here, especially Devonport. Not sure why this is.

Date span to cover from aprox Minnie being 18 yrs till we believe John Williams died.

Hi Minnie, No unfortunately this isn't the correct family.

At this time, we can find no parentage for Minnie; we do have certs to confirm, daughters’ births, where John is stated on both as father. On eldest daughter’s death he is stated as deceased, we know she died in 1911, so looking for marriage up to that date.

Without a marriage cert don’t seem to be able to confirm parents etc.
Just hoping they actually married.

1898 Minnie is living at 13 Castle St. Plymouth, with husband John, Children Maud 6yrs, Rosina at birth.

1901 Census she is living 32 & 33 Kinterbury St. Plymouth, with husband John, Children Maud 8yrs, Rosina 2yrs

1911 Census Minnie is living at 27A Buckwell St. Plymouth. She is living with daughter Rosina.

Hi Minnie,

Checked through the marriages you pulled up earlier. Seems James Goldsworthy married Amelia, according to the 1891 Census, I have checked through 10 Goldsworthy's & 9 John Williams's on this Census, and this was the only one to come up.

Had hoped that may have been a good link, but afraid not.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Christine,

Many Many thanks for checking that for me, I really appreciate it, unfortunately that then really does bring us to a dead end. Also thanks for the baptism dates.

Unsure really as where to go from here.

Thanks to all who have tried to help.

Regards.

I wonder if anyone can look these up on the 1891 to see who married who?

Marriages Jun 1884
Evans Louisa Falmouth 5c 280
GOODMAN John Edwin Falmouth 5c 280
Opie Mary Ann Falmouth 5c 280
WILLIAMS Edward John Falmouth 5c 280

One other thought, could Minnie have been married before and her marriage to John Williams would be under another surname?

ChrissyT Report 17 May 2009 11:05

Hi Selena, They say great minds think alike, those are the marriages Im checking out at the mo.

Having trouble finding anything.

Not sure if Minnie was married before, Going on the census dates seems she was born in 1867, which brings this Mary Ann Opie also into play. Fingers crossed.

Regards.

Hi Chrissy, one other possibility but unlikely as I expect Minnie here married Samuel but might be worth a look.

Marriages Sep 1890
JAMES Mary Jane Redruth 5c 317
JAMES Samuel John Redruth 5c 317
JANE Minnie Redruth 5c 317
Opie William Redruth 5c 317

Hi Again Selena,

On the records you pulled:

Marriages Jun 1884

Evans Louisa Falmouth 5c 280
GOODMAN John Edwin Falmouth 5c 280
Opie Mary Ann Falmouth 5c 280
WILLIAMS Edward John Falmouth 5c 280

I have not been able to find anything to confirm or otherwise in the 1891 Census.

Looks like may just have to get the cert for Mary and see if this comes up trumps.

Regards,
C.

Hi Again Christine,

Is it possible to find out the God parents at a baptism, if they had them in 1901 that is. As if so that would be a great help with Maud & Rosina Williams's line.
(St Andrews 26-06-1901)

Regards,
Chrissy.

Hi Christine,

Thanks a lot, the info on Florence is a great help, she would be my great great aunt, I had nothing on her at all, so this will help with opening a few more doors. I have already been able to find 3 tree's with Robert Kite in, in the Plymouth area, so hopefully will get something back from them.

Do you know if Plymstock, Plympton & Devonport come under the Plymouth info or would they be listed seperately? I know they do now, but unsure of back in the 1050's etc.

Thank you again.

Best wishes,
Chris
