It does say other possible names next to it could be Samuel Street

Thankyou for looking that up for me. Unfortunately it's not the right one.
All i know is that he was born 1832 in Kent and i'm trying to find the 1851 census.
It may be that the surname is spelt wrong

Hi Karen,

If you could tell us his wifes name and year of birth, hopefully we could find him on other censuses and work backwards???

Often we need to see census info to "find our feet" and establish it's the correct family we're tracing.

I know his wife was Ann Norris she was b 1833 Croyden Surrey
He married Ann in 1854
I found him in the 1871 census living at 2 russel rd croyden and
1881 living at 4 pridham rd Croyden.
Someone found a census for his parents for me from 1851 but Samuel wasn't on it.
His parents were Samuel H and Mary Ann Skeet living in croyden

On the 1851 census samuel and mary have young children, whilst they are in their fifties; this leads me to think that it's a second marriage.

Now I've found this, image looks like it states SKATES;

I think the 1841 census is correct;

Henry Marks was born c. 1835 ( Henry Shales 1841 census)

Mary ANN Marks was born c. 1839 ( Ann Shales 1841 census)

And Samuel would be about correct with his year of birth if the other 2 were 1 year out???
