Can anyone help? I am trying to find any info I can on my Dad's father, He married Emily King in 1928 in Leytonstone (London), his father's name is Fredderick George. I have all this info from the original marrage cert that my dad passed on to me before he died. He never knew his dad, as Stanley left Emily just before my dad was born. I do not seem to be able to find anything on him in any census, I held a lot of hope out for the 1911, but he seems to have slipped through that net!!!!!

FannyByGaslight Report 22 Apr 2009 21:58

His birth?

Births Dec 1906 (>99%)
Barrett Stanley James Marylebone 1a 531

What was frederick george Barretts occupation please.
And what age does Stanley say he is on the marriage cert.?

Tania

Tania Report 22 Apr 2009 22:16

on the 1911 there is a stanley barrett[1907] and frederick george[1879] at marylebone...

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 22 Apr 2009 22:17

this may be him in 1911 but with a mistranscribed surname?
You would need to check fredericks occupation.

HOUSEHOLD BARRATT STANLEY M 1907 4 Camberwell London
HOUSEHOLD BARRATT CLAUD M 1902 9 Camberwell London
HOUSEHOLD BARRATT EDITH F 1875 36 Camberwell London
HOUSEHOLD BARRATT ETHEL F 1901 10 Camberwell London
HOUSEHOLD BARRATT FREDERICK M 1872 39 Camberwell London
HOUSEHOLD BARRATT HORACE M 1904 7 Camberwell London
HOUSEHOLD BARRATT LILY F 1900 11 Camberwell London
HOUSEHOLD BARRATT MABEL F 1908 3 Camberwell London

But of course if you buy his birth certificate it would give you his mothers name to be sure about him on 1911 census.

Also the witnesses on his 1928 marriage to Emily may hold a clue if any of them were barretts.

Hi Tania
I checked that one out,as I thought it may have been them, but the stanley was an Edgar Stanley.

Edit ,,the frederick george was with edgar stanley barrett and

stanley barrett was with a father james.

oh heavens I have confused myself now ,but none of them had the right people together.

Tania

Tania Report 22 Apr 2009 22:36

that was kind of you to do that.

FannyByGaslight Report 22 Apr 2009 22:50

Well it only takes time, not money, to do that if you know how.
Shame it doesnt bring up their birth places and occupations as well, but we have to be grateful for small mercies.

And the one I posted was the only one I could find with the correct names in about the right area.

FannyByGaslight Report 22 Apr 2009 22:56

Thanks for all your time you have put in.
What I know is that Frederick's occupation on the marage cert in 1928 was book (or boot) salesman.
Stanley & Emily were living at 58 Southwell Grove Road, (Leytonstone?)
The witnesses were both on Emily's side
Stanley was 23 years old in 1928 at the time of marriage he was a waiter/Valet

Thanks again

Mike

That's amazing you guys, I really think I'm getting somewhere now. When I couldn't find anything on the 1911 census under Barrett, I thought I may have to wait untill 1921 till I would get close. I never gave it a though that people would have difficulties spelling their names. The more I think about it, the more obvious it would seem.

I really can't thank you enough.

How do you manage to get that much information on a marrage without applying for a certificate? because that is very impressive......

Thanks

Mike
