I am trying to find information on Charles Sorrell. His son Albert Ernest Rogers Sorrell was born in Tenterden,Kent in 1888. He appears on marriage certificate of Alberts in 1912 but is listed as deceased. |

Do you have access to ancestry records? Have you bought the sons birth cert for both parents names and dads occupation? |

Witness my hand this 30th day of April 1949 . W Hammond, Superintdent Registrar. It does not say this is a short certificate. |

David, who is Albert born 1949? You were looking for the Albert born c1888 in Tenterden? Is that a duplicate cert or something? It may be a short cert issued for labour or social purposes. You need to buy the full one, the reference I have given you is above. |

You need to get the 1888 certificate - it may be that one of those unmarried girls are his mum |

I have now obtained Alberts birth certificate dated the 9.9.1888. He is named as Albert Ernest Rogers. There is no fathers name. Agnes Sorrell is named as his mother. Agnes married a Charles Sims (1892) and appears on the the 1901 census. Albert is listed there as Albert E. Sims. I now appear to have 4 surnames for Albert (Sorrell, Torrell, Rogers and Sims) and I am no further forward to finding his father Charles Sorrell named on his marriage certificate in 1912. Where should I go next ? Regards David Sims -Torrell- Rogers- Sorrell |
