ihave the marriage cert, for piza or pizer, it seems he couldnt write as his mark is on the cert' not his signature, there is no fathers first name, only surname chapman which doesnt sound very Russian does it? but it says farmer for his fathers occupation.

hooray! after loking for my grandfather for many years i found him on the 1911 census. bertie chapman born in hastings 1903. however i have found that his father :piza chapman ('chapman' not very russian i'm thinking) was born in russia, on the 1891 census it said he was a british subject born in rhudtic but can find no such place in russia, pizas father was a farmer, any clues as to where i can go from here. many thanks Lisa
