Find Ancestors

Hi im trying to Find George and his Wife Annie Louisa Harvey on the 1901 census.

George was born in 1878 or 1882.

Their marriage showed as Dec 1894

So on the 1901 census they would be together as married.

Their marriage was in Bethnal green so when I have searched the census I have been looking mainly at the Bethnal Green area.


Any information is greatly appreciate

What children should be with them? If he were born 1882 hed only be 12 when they married! And 16 for 1878?

Have you got their marriage cert so that we can use his fathers name and occupation as a reference?

Something a bit iffy about the dates you are giving.

I got the 1878 from the help i got yesterday

im not sure what children they had only that they had Walter Harvey in March 1916 and possibly a Hannah Harvey in 1914 so these would not have been born for the 1901 census

I am waiting on the marriage cert to arrive it willbe a few weeks yet I only applied for it yesterday

It would be the first marriage as her maiden name is pleasants.

I have her sons wedding and birth cert to confirm her maiden name

Hannah's birth gives mother's maiden name Pleasants.

I think you are confusing two couples here. It would be best to wait for that marriage cert. Although even that seems odd, when they were having kids 22 years later?

I think the birth year you have for George cant be right at all.

If this is them George was born 1877.

Collette, check out the census for 1901 above - but I think its for that second couple who married in 1900?

Are you absolutely sure that you have the right birth cert for grandad?

Thats the first one I have seen with a George W and a Annie L together in the same place on the census.

I'll go look for that one and keep it saved til the cert comes

Im confused about this - as Ive asked above, are you absolutely sure of grandads mum? Its a common name, Harvey, could you have got the wrong birth cert?

The only strange thing is about that census is their age.................... if its the correct one Annie would have been 44 and 46 having the two children ............ while thats possible I would have thought it strange in them days for them to wait so long for chilren unless there is more I dont know about.

I know at my grandads funeral Their son Walter my father remembers aunts and uncles going but he doesnt knw anything about them as he was young when his dad died and afterwards he didnt keep in contact with any of Walters siblings

The Birth cert for my grandad all falls into place i have no reason to believe its the wrong one

it has the correct name Walter John Harvey............... what my dad told me

It has the correct date of birth of Walter 25th January 1916

The parents names on iit read

Father George William Harvey
Mother Annie Louisa Harvey formally Pleasants.
Town he was born in Mile end old town

so im 90% sure his birth cert is correct

Looking at his Wedding Cert the names still match his name his fathers name and his mothers name as they were his witnesses

Town they was married in Bow, London

Walter married a Beatrice Lilian Strickland March 13th 1937
