Hi, i am trying to find the marriage of Tilden Christman. On the 1881 census he was 63, living with his brother in law John Haffenden. He is not on any previous census. I am trying to find his wifes name.

Philadelphia was Tilden's sister by the looks of things.

Now i am really confused?!? I thought John married Lydia Hobden in 1845. I think Philadelphia is Tilden's sister. That would be why John lives with Tilden later in life. Did he marry twice? How can i find that out?

There is a marriage for John Haffenden and Lydia Hebden in 1842 which would have been after he married Philadelphia.

Bigmay? Different man?

You might need both marriage certs to work that one out for sure.

Or, look for John and Lydia Haffenden in censuses etc.
