Really not sure what I should do now?

I have the Wil for George Long. Which was "proved" in 1840.

It would appear that Mary Hobbes was a niece of his. Quite a bit of his money went to her and her children when they reached the age of 21.

I cannot find a marriage for Long /Hobbes so therefore I am under the impression that she is George Long niece by one of his sisters. She would have got married and therefore changed her name from Long to??

I do not know any of Georges sisters. There do not appear to be any sisters mentioned on the will/. Also believe that George himself never possbly married.

There was also money left to the Church.

Any ideas what do do would be appreciated. The nephews of George - once again I assume Marys children are:-

William, Mary, Joseph, Ellen, Lavinia, Edward, Emma, Ellen, Sophia

Thank you in advance

btw, Uley and North Nibley look to be about 3 to 4 miles apart, at google maps.

That's what the My Threads link (and Bookmarks function) is for. So one doesn't forget one's threads. I believe I ran across that one when I did a search in relation to the Elizabeth Webb / North Nibley queries.

Seriously. You cut your own chances of getting productive help if you don't make sure that all that went before is available to anyone in the present.

Thank you for the information I will have a ponder on that.

Once again I appear to have been reprimanded I have checked the thread that you cut and pasted on here and I have to say that I actually forgot that I had posted this in August 2008, although not sure why I am justifying myself!

Once again many thanks for your help

Regards Paula

Address in 1841 is 18 Dowry Parade; husband William is a teacher.

She is of an age to be a married daughter possibly.

Was the Victoria Street address the address of the deceased or the witness?

You know, giving all the info on the cert to start with, maybe in a nice list, is a very good idea.

It really would be nice if you wouldn't keep starting new threads about the same family, Paula.

People who read each new thread have no idea what information has been searched for / found in the other ones.

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1070280

It also loses *you* the benefit of help from people who have helped a lot in the previous threads, but may very well not see the new one. Or not feel like toggling back and forth to the previous one to check what was there.

Of course, deleting previous threads, as you have been doing, isn't any more in compliance with the one-post-per-topic rule than marking them "CLOSED" and starting a new one.

This has been pointed out at least once already.

What was the address

PaulaW

PaulaW Report 28 Mar 2009 11:32

Mary Hobbes (Hobbs) not very clear. Present at death and address no relationship entered.

The certificate is very basic and does not give much detail to work from as far as I can make out.

Thanks

Barbara

What was the name of the informant

PaulaW

PaulaW Report 28 Mar 2009 11:20

I have today received the death cert for a relative (was trying to prove the connection) and there is nothing on it that I feel will help me any further.

Am I missing something that I should be following up?

The informants name does not match the deceased, although could have been a married daughter (?) not sure if I have wasted my time.

The name is George Long born 1765 North Nibley Glos. died 1839 Clifton Bristol.

I am trying to find out about his children, if any. I know that he was born in Glos and lived for 40 years in London Westminister (George obviously went back to Glos and died there in 1839) and from then on I have traced the family through to the 1911.

I have posted before regarding this family but until today did not have any certs.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you
