Oscar and Bertha were born in Erskineville, Sydney so I would assume that Frederick and Stella were too.

Yes, Ingrid, Fred Maitland married Lilly Butchart in Kogarah NSW and they were still living in Kogarah when his mother died, by the looks of things. They married in 1908.

Lewella, Bertha married William Wallace Caller in 1909 and she died in 1969. Her grandson didn't have any details of her past, no photos, nothing. Stella married Reginald Large who is buried with Maud at Randwick cemetery. I know they had 1 son but not sure what his name was. I can't remember what year she died.

Hi Sharon

I have had a look on NSW BDM and like you can't find anything on them. I checked Queensland as well.

Hi Ingrid,

Her parents are named as Henry Woods and Emma Saunders and she died in 1932 at Randwick. Her children's ages at the time were Frederick 52, Oscar 51, Stella 46 and Bertha 41.

Sharyn Report 20 Mar 2009 06:27

Hi Lewella,

I have Maud's death certificate and her son Frederick was the informant. Her son Frederick was born c1880, Oscar born c 1881, Stella born c1886 and Bertha born c 1891. Maud died at Randwick on 29 July 1932 and is buried in the C of E area of the Cemetery. The certificate states that she was born in Sydney and that she was married at 16 years of age in Newcastle, NSW to George Henry Jones. Her parents are named as Henry Woods and Emma Saunders.

I have Oscar's marriage certificate that states he was married to Annie Smith in 1904 in Sydney and that he was born in Sydney. His parents were George Henry Jones (deceased) and Mary Wood(s). George is said to have been a sea captain. Oscar's death certificate says he was born in Erskineville, Sydney NSW. I can find a record for all the children's marriages and deaths but no more. And, that's about it.

Exactly what information do you have?

Sharyn

Sharyn Report 20 Mar 2009 03:46

Hi All,

I'm having a great deal of trouble trying to find the birth in Sydney of Maud Mary Jones (nee WOODS) around 1861. She married George Jones and they had four children-Frederick, Oscar, Stella and Bertha. I have Maud's death certificate but there is no sign of her birth or marriage records. Actually, there are no records for any of them prior to 1904.
