The James Hardie b 20th Feb 1848 in Culsalmond reported by Alviegal is not the person you are looking for.

He was the second youngest brother of my great grandfather Frances William Hardie. He inherited the gardeners cottage at Newton house after the death of his father William Hardie in 1870. He then married a servant from Newton House Jane Nichol in 1872. They had two children Lizzie and George. Lizzie married and moved to Tain in Ross and Cromarty where she was still living in 1915. George's fate is unknown. James Hardie died of TB in Culsalmond on 18th February 1877.

My family has no connection with Blackpool or Preston. Sorry but this one is a red herring.

However if anyone has anymore information about James Hardie's mother Jane Wight I would be delighted to hear from them.

Where in Scotland were the children William, George and James born and what years were they born in Scotland?.

If you get just one of the childrens births on Scotlands People it will tell you where and when the parents married. Then you can check for the marriage on Scotlands People and this would give both James Hardie and Elizabeth Rissel's parents names for you to work backward.

Have no more details but I know they had sons called William, George,James all born in Scotland and Jane and Mary born in Treales and then John born in Blackpool. (1891 England Census)

Possible for James but the marriage certificate from scotlandspeople will tell you his parents names.

On Scotlands People website which you can search on a pay for credits system ( £6 for 30 credits) there are 16 James Hardie's born in Scotland between 1851 and 1853.

You could try Family Search but there are even more births on there for James Hardie's in Scotland. No way of knowing which one if any is yours.

I have asked before but unfortunatly I was looking for the wrong people. The people I need are James Hardie (born approx 1852) and Elizabeth Russel born about the same time but not 100% sure. These were born in Scotland. I am sure these are the people I need this time. I really do appreciate your help and am truly sorry that I got everything wrong the first time around. I hope some one can giv me some help.
