Thanks guys, his birth date was 29 June 1915 so from Jonesy reply Harold is dead.
Im going to check that out but I really appreciate your help because I was beginning to think Id come to the end of the road.
Im sure from the death certificate will show a spouse or child informant.
The only other thing is what to do with the information when we have it, any future children may not know that he was previously married or had a child.

Elaine, there are too many Harold Thompsons to trace a remarriage, no way of knowing if it's the right one I'm afraid.
It may be worth you getting his birth certificate, that way you can find his death, send for that cert and possibly contact the informant.
** I've just read through your first post again, are you saying you do already have Harolds birth cert? If so what is his date of birth?

Other Children (so far)
1905 +-1yr Luke Thompson
1907 +-1yr Francis Thompson
1909 +- 1 yr William Thompson
1910 Ann Thompson
1920 Cecil Thompson
They were all registered in the Chorlton area of Manchester
Harold Thompson married Gladys Hopwood in April 1940 and I believe they divorced around 1949/1950.
How do I go about finding out what happened to Harold after this time??

It was from the 1911 census and he was born 1915. I know he married in 1940 and think they divorced around 1949/1950.
Apart from his siblings which Im trying to trace, I'm trying to find out if he remarried and had further children which Im guessing he would.
He was born in 1915 so he probably died but he may have a family.

Divorces are not online, they are available to view at The National Archives, so you'll just need to look for a remarriage.
You needa subscription or credits on Ancestry or Find My Past, or you could ask for look ups but it sounds like it could be a big search.

P.S. if he's on the 1901 then that is a very early divorce, are you sure they divorced?

Hi guys, can you give me some advice. Im new at this but have been bitten by the bug.
I'm trying to find details on my father's paternal family.
From my father's birth certificate, Ive got the man's name and managed to get a marriage certificate, from which Ive located and received a copy of the man's birth certificate. From this and many hours research, Ive found his parents (my father's grandparents) and details of other children listed on the census.
My question is how do I find details further on the man himself rather than his siblings etc.
I seem to have come to the end of the road.
I want to trace when my paternal grandfather divorced and if he ever remarried and had further children.
Any advice would greatly appreciated.
