Hi Wendy
The records you have found seem very promising, I do know that the Stephen Mitchell and Mary Barham in the 1851 census and 1841 are definately related to me.
You say you have the Parish CD of Horsham, where can I get a copy of the CD?
I appreciate all the help you are giving me.

Regards
Graham

Excellent, Wendy.

I was trying to find baptism of Mary Barham in Horsham as records go back to the 1750s. Now we know she was married before.

This should give Graham a huge part of his family tree.

Ozi.

Graham

we know you have them together in 1851

and we're trying to find them for you in 1841

In case you didn't know, the 1841 does NOT tell you the relationships between people living in the same house, and does NOT show birthplace other than born in or out of county (or in Ireland, Scotland or Foreign)

In addition, the 1841 rounds down the ages of most adults to the nearest 5

Both ozi and I have found what seems to be the right mother with children, and we have given you reasonings as to why we think that

The father is so far not to be found ......... and we have both been trying very hard to find him

All you do is dismiss what we have found because they are not together.

Please remember that we are members of this site just like you, and help others because we like to do so, not because we have to, or because we are paid to do so.

could Stephen and William have been out at the time of the census?

Ozibird

Ozibird Report 22 Feb 2009 22:11

I think you would be unwise to discount a lady of the same name living in the same street. Now we know that Charles is probably James Charles, she has two of the same children with her.

Ozi.

Update: Thanks, Sylvia.
I've searched everywhere for Stephen, plenty of possibilities but nothing conclusive.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Feb 2009 22:07

from the International Genealogical Index on www.familysearch.org.

This is the Mormon site ........ but all these records are EXTRACTED which means taken from the actual parish record

Father Stephen Mitchell, mother Mary, children born 1830 +/- 10 years

1. STEPHEN MITCHELL - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male
Christening: 05 NOV 1825 Horsham, Sussex, England
Died 23 January 1826

2. EDWARD MITCHELL - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male
Christening: 19 DEC 1828 Horsham, Sussex, England

3. JAMES CHARLES MICHELL - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male
Christening: 29 APR 1827 Horsham, Sussex, England

so ................... the James on the 1841 Census found by ozi is probably the same as Charles in the 1851 ............. and she did find the correct census!!!!

Now the problem is to find father Stephen
