This is getting close to home now. This funeral in my hometown of Cornwall, Ontario. Sister of the deceased is Beverly Applejohn, Ottawa. Is she the sister-in-law of your Richard Henry mentioned in his obituary? Applejohn is not a common name. Also a pallbearer was Jason Applejohn.

Beloved husband of Mary (Robertson) Smith. Dear father of Shawn Smith, Syracuse; Joanne Smith (Mike Arsenault), Cornwall; and Shane Smith (Karen) of Ottawa. He will be sadly missed by granddaughter Caitlin Smith of Syracuse.
Dear brother of Sylvia McRae (Dwayne), Williamstown; Beverley Applejohn, Ottawa; Sandra Buchanan, Moose Creek; Gary Smith (Linda); and Brian Smith, both of Cornwall.
Predeceased by his parents Clinton Henry and Julia Ann (Lauzon) Smith; and by two brothers Russell and Bobby Smith.
Funeral service was celebrated by the Venerable Archdeacon Frank Kirby in Trinity Anglican Church on Tuesday, July 22.
Interment followed in St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Long Sault.
The pallbearers were Jason Applejohn, Jody Smith, Justin Smith, Mike Arsenault, David Robertson, Gary Robertson.
Oops! Forgot to say this funeral was last year, 2008. Hubby, a retired teacher looked at this and said "I taught those kids!"

APPLEJOHN, Richard Henry "Pete" - 80, Digby, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2007. Born in Liverpool, England, from where he immigrated to Canada in 1929, he was a son of the late Richard Morgan and Lucy (COOKE) APPLEJOHN. Pete served with the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years, retiring in 1967. Pete was the Chief Laboratory Technologist at Digby General Hospital for 23 years, retiring in 1990. Pete was active with the Boy Scouts of Canada. He enjoyed sailing, gardening (especially growing roses), visiting family and travelling. Pete was a member of the Order of Good Cheer and the "Irving Coffee Club". Pete had many friends and has touched many lives. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
