Trying to find the father of my nan, Ernest Whiting, thought I had found him but the date is wrong. Is on the 1911 Census as being 21 yrs of age (B1890), Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Parents: William WHITING and Harriett (nee LOWE). |

So....if the date is wrong on the 1911 census, when was he born? |

Hi Sue, I originally thought his date of birth was 1874/5 but further investigation tells me this is wrong and when I found him on the 1911 census aged 21 that confirmed to me that his date of birth was actually 1890. |

lancashireann is correct, but there are no births for ernest showing on freebmd for derbyshire vol 7b between the years 1888 and 1891, if yo can put up the details of the 1891 census that you think you have found him on???????? |

Thank you so much to all of you that have tried to help me with this. I think I was right in first place with his DOB being 1875'ish. But I just wonder if he lied about his real age on the 1911 census by saying he was 21 instead of 36 as he obviously had his wicked way with my grt nan (twice at least) to have two children out of wedlock with her. I think I found is death in 1919 (Oct,Nov,Dec Qtr). but somehow I find this difficult to fathom out as I have a letter written to my nan from Daddy Ernest (she was born in 1916) which would make her only being up to 3 yrs of age and the content of the letter is not like one you would write to a 3 yr old. Can anyone advice on where to look next. |

angela you would have to confirm that it was his death in 1919 and the only way to do that is buy a death certificate. you have to some times but if you think the letter is inappropriate it might not be his death, no date on the letter? |
