That may be quite good Kath as the name Samson may tie in with the vague Jewish memory. But again, without more info concerning the man I dont think you will be able to definitely prove anything.

You are going to need more information about him to find the right person.

If your father was born in 1945 then I would have thought the best starting years for the birth of his father would be 1920 to 1925. This is the only birth in the area you give in that time:-

Name: George A Chapman
Year of Registration: 1921
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Mother's Maiden Name: Samson
District: Dartford
County: Kent
Volume: 2a
Page: 1213

I really don't know how you will find the right George without more information about him as it is quite a common name.

If your dad was born in 1945, I think 1932 for grandads birth is very unlikely!

Have you got your dads birth cert - thats the first thing to do.

Is there any details on your fathers birth cert that might help.

His name is George Chapman and i think he was from the Bexley / Bexley Heath area. He and my grandmother had a child (my father) but were not married. He may have been born in 1926 give or even up to 20 years earlier! i also think he was from a Jewish family? He left when my dad was 5 in 1950 and no-one saw him since. It is rumoured he went on to marry and have a daughter.
