There is a strong possibility you will end up going down the wrong line as you do not know any Christian names for your grandparents or your grandmothers maiden name.
There are several Dorothy Coopers born under the registration district of Blackburn and I cannot fin a reg for a Madeline which would help with maiden name (probably not yet transcribed - worth checking each month after a freebmd update).
The best way would be to find your mothers marriage certificate which would then at least gve you the name of your grandfather and his occupation.

but possible in 70/s They were married when I went home to live with them in 1968/69

I have seen info on BMD Dorothy M Cooper born 1928 which would be about my mothers right age however
this document states that her mothers maiden name was Hindle Im not sure this is the Dorothy Cooper Im looking for All the dates I have are approxamate based on my memory as I was placed in care when 18months old
so I'm trying to find Birth record for second born child

Dorothy Cooper was the first born child Birth approx 1928 Married John Billington Wickens - one child Christine born 1955
Dorothy Cooper also had child Janet born approx 1952/3
not sure if John B Wickens was the father
Divorced John B Wickens remarried to Elizabeth Billington

Madelaine Cooper 2nd Born approx 1932 who married Maurice Thornley approx 1955 - had one child Ann Thornley born 1957

David Cooper 3rd born approx 1938 Married to Mary
3 children Mark Ian and John

Frank Cooper born approx 1940 married but no details

For a marriage,you only need
put one partners name when ordering.

If you are ordering online from the GRO,
make sure that when the form asks
"Is the full GRO reference known?"
that you tick the 'yes' box.

If you look for the birth reg of any of the 4 children and buy the birth cert (cost £7) this will give you the mothers maiden name. Christian names of Parents too.

If i were you i would look for the 2nd born childs birth reference as sometimes the 1st born will be registered in the mothers maiden name. (concieved before marriage....nod nod wink wink?)

When was your mother born?

I am not to sure of maternal grandmothers christian name Cooper is her married surname
I dont know grandfathers name either
They would have been born around 1900 - 1910
and lived in Darwen Blackburn
They had four children Dorothy Madelaine David and Frank They lived in Perry Street Darwen Blackburn Can Anyone help please
