From the 1871 census it would seem that your birth date for daughter Ann is incorrect.
This could be her birth:- Births Dec 1865 Cockburn Ann Renwick Berwick 10b 323
If it is the correct one, then it is possible that mothers maiden name is Renwick? but that's just a guess!! You really need to buy the birth cert. for one of the other children to be sure!

There's this one:- Marriages Mar 1861 (>99%) Cockburn Robert Berwick 10b 395 Dickson Anna Jane Berwick 10b 395 Riddle Jamena Berwick 10B 395
possible that Robert was married twice?? There again you would have to buy the birth certs. for the children to be absolutely sure!!

Ann Renwick Cockburn - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 12 AUG 1860 Berwick Upon Tweed, Northumberland, England Father: Alexander Cockburn Mother: Jane
So Jane's husband is not James, but brother Alexander. Note: both girls christened Ann "Renwick" Cockburn!!

I think it must have been going funny cause it kept pressing reply and the text box didnt come up, it seems i can reply now, yay :). I wonder if its the brothers mothers maiden name that could be renwick, someone on the other side of my family gave there children there mothers maiden name as a middle name too.
Thanks to everyone whos looked i looks like that thats the family in 1841/51. I noticed ages ago on the 1861 census living near robert and wife ann there was jane cockburn 69 widow, Mark cockburn 26 carter berwick with wife ellen and family, and james cockburn 31 carter wife agnes and family. So it seems they are their family. :)
Thanks becky

Glad it's all fit into place with what you knew already. I always follow brothers and sisters through all the census records and especially try and find children from a missing census as they are often staying with relatives so this can sometimes fill in gaps from your tree, or confirm info that you're not sure about. It's especially good news when they are staying with Grandparents, that can help a lot. Regards Catherine
