Hi guys,
I've posted about my great grandmother before but I have only just found her birth. Until this afternoon, we all knew her as Grace Gertrude Marsh (born 21st March 1904 in Liverpool) and on her marriage certificate to Charles Pike (born 1898) in 1926 it states she was Grace Gertrude Marsh, aged 21 and a spinster living at 34 Rosalind Street. Her father is listed as George Henry Marsh - a timekeeper (deceased). I have been searching for my great grandmother's birth so I could order the certificate for months but could not for the life of me find it.

Then today I had the bright idea to just search for children born Grace Gertrude in the Liverpool area in 1904 and hey presto, it came up with a Grace Gertrude Barrett registered Q2 1904 in the Toxteth Park district. I then searched for a marriage between barrett and marsh and bingo, Sarah E Barrett married George Henry Marsh in West Derby in 1913. So none of us knew my great grandmother was actually born a barrett and presumably took on her step-father's name after her mother married (not even her own children, my nan was shocked when we told her).

I have ordered the birth certificate but I was just wondering if anyone could help me find out anything about Sarah or George since I cant seem to find anything. Of course, my next step is to buy the marriage cert but I've spent a lot on certs recently and need to slow down on my spending a little. Hopefully one of you whizzes will be able to help me along somehow, anything would be fantastic since this branch of my family has been at a standstill since I started researching for my family tree.

Thank you in advance for anything you may help me find.
Jen xx
