I think I might have found the marriage

Marriages Dec 1843 (97%)
Ayres Caroline Shoreditch 2 369
Blow Frederick Shoreditch 2 369
Boyle Rebecca Shoreditch 2 369
Haylock Richard Shoreditch 2 369
>>>Hussey Elizabeth Shoreditch 2 369
King Sarah Shoreditch 2 369
SANDLAND Eliza Shoreditch 2 369
Sansum Thomas Shoreditch 2 369

You'll note from the above that there are 5 women but only 4 men.

On checking the actual index for Dec qtr 1843 there is this entry

White Henry Shoreditch Vol2 Page 369 ..... must be the missing man and your marriage

Can anyone help me find this wedding - I just cannot seem to find it - if it is Elizabeth Hussey from shorditch marrying Henry White around 1842?

THanks a lot

Heather

Heather Report 20 Dec 2008 18:00

Yes I agree
I need to find a wedding with Elizabeth Hussey and Henry White therefore in around 1842 a year before the first child?

Unseen, I would guess at it being Hussey written with the long first 's'. Which would make John Hussey the 1851 visitor a relative of some sort.

I have managed to get a copy of the birth certificate but the maiden name is not very legible I wonder if I can load it up on this site so someone more experience can help me work out what it is

it looks like

Huplery
or Hubsey? Hupsey?
or Hipery?

Does anyone know how I can load it up for others to see?

That is good advice I will buy a birth certificate today.

Thank you enormously - I will get back to this thread when I get the birth cert
thanks a lot all

I think the way to proceed is to buy a siblings b.cert, so then I could be sure of the parents' names - there seems to be too many Henry's. I would settle on:
Births Jun 1858 (>99%)
White Rosetta Mary Shoreditch 1c 214
At least, this way you'ld know what marriage you were looking for.

Incidentally, re the 1851 visitors - I came across:
Births Mar 1839 (>99%)
Durden Rosetta Ann East London 2 191
[East London included St. Botolph Without Aldgate]

Mel and Cassidy how did you do that?

Especially Mel - where did you get that information from? on what website? I am certainly missing something - I am new to this but to find that out would be great.

I could request both certificates but to be sure which is right I would need to be sure of Henry fathers name?

Do you have the register number for that wedding and the quarter - it must be them - I must have ordered the wrong one
thanks a huge bunch!

Heather

Heather Report 12 Dec 2008 16:07

No I dont but I would be more than happy to get Charles White my great Grandfather birth certificate but I could not find the record.

The witnesses of the wedding are strangely numberous
Top line :Joseph White John Jos? White
Middle line : Mary White Edin d? Phillips
Bottom line: Albert Glastones F W Welsford

That is why I did not think it was the correct family as they were relatively poor Hackney Car driver etc ....?

Wedding certificate shows them living in Portland Place and Joseph White was a Merchant. Henry White father was not listed just White deceased

NO ages listed either only of full age ...so could not verify but do nt think it is them?

thanks again

Do you have the birth certificate of any of the children to confirm Elizabeth's maiden name?

I am really struggling to find this wedding. He was born in hanover Square Middlesex and he is a hackney carriage driver. Elizabeth was born in St Lukes Middlesex.

They were in 1851 in Shoreditch Middlesex, with children Elizabeth (8) Thomas (4) Henry (7), William (10 months)
in 1861 Shoreditch Haggerston with same children plus Charles Benjamin and Rosetta,

I would really like to trace Henry birth or the wedding to go back one generation and I have been really struggling. Can anyone help me.

I did buy a marriage cert of a Henry and Elizabeth (both Whites) in 1842 in Islington but I dont think it is them as he is listed as a Gentleman and the witnesses appear wrong. Also no fathers first name is given.

Any help would be enormously appreciated.
