Find Ancestors

I am looking for the birth of William Henry Hodgins in Ontario c1870. I have looked at the Canadian Vital Records but with no success.

I have found what I believe to be his second marriage to Adelaide Clark (but her name has been mistranscribed) but would like to ascertain if, in fact, he had been married before.

After his marriage to Adelaide, he lived and died (1957) in Manitoba. After that, I know absolutely nothing else about him but would love to find out.

I understand it is quite difficult to access certain records and would be grateful to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks.

Thanks Suzi I think this will be him in 1901. The area is right so I think we may have something here.

Looking at the original one that Suzi posted, both William and Helen were born in Ontario, Grace in Manitoba.

There's a birth in R.M. Springfield, Manitoba of Grace Emmaline Hodgins, 1898. Mother's maiden name Helen Findlay.

I guess this is the second marriage that you spoke of where the bride's name is transcribed as Adcaide Dalina Clark, 24 March 1910, Winnipeg.

The original says that Adelaide and Reginald were born in England, Adelaide emigrating in 1905 and Reginald in 1907.

Grace Emeline Hodgins died 16 Aug. 1902, age 4, R.M. Springfield.

There's also a birth of Cora Isabela Hodgins, 29 april, 1901, Springfield with mother's maiden name Helen Findlay.
And a death of Cora Isbella Hodgins, 28 Nov. 1903, age 2, Winnipeg.

Could this be the marriage of Reginald?
Reginald Knox Clark and Lillian Martha MacDonald, 2 Sep. 1922, Winnipeg.

Hi Margaret, just returned to the boards for a brief time before I have to go out again.
Yes, that's Adelaide's marriage in 1910 and it's them on the 1911 census.
I have traced Reginald (with your help I think) earlier this year as far as him entering the CEF and possibly going over to the US. I haven't seen that marriage but my Reginald's middle name was Sydney so that may not be him.
I think we have the right William Hodges - how sad about the little girls. It may be that Helen died also and he then married Adelaide. All supposition I know, but .......and I won't write anything in stone yet but I will see what else crops up. Thank you for your efforts, I'm very grateful.
