Tracing a marriage after 1920's

I am trying to trace info on various branches on my tree. However I seem to come to a halt after the 1901 census on GR and for records after the 1920's on freebmd. Can anyone give advice on where I can obtain info after these dates?

The current blockage I have reached is the second marriage for Florence Eley nee Wiseman (1906) to Len ( Leonard) Gargrave (1908) who was previously married to either an Eley or Wiseman. The story is that after the deaths of their first partners. Then Florence and Len married. They were Sister & Brother-in-law from their previous marriages. They were both born in West Ham.

Any advice gratefully received.

Regards.

Donna.

Do you have a rough idea when the first partners died (in order to get an idea what year to start looking for the second) - and I'll search the records for you

would need to search through the actual images on ancestry bmd -

To find marriages after those on the FreeBMD involves a trawl through Ancestry or FMP 1/4 by 1/4 for each year until the record is found

You need assess to the full BMD, i think it's free on Ancestry i'm not exactly sure. You will need to go through each quarter and manually search for the marriage.

Your looking for Second marriages tho? Do you know when the spouse's died? This will be a good indicaton for you as to when to start looking!

Paul,
Not really, i estimate it must be late thirties or early forties as apparently Len & Florence had a child who I think was called Joan.

Thanks for checking.

Leonard L Gragrave married an Eley in Essex S.W registration district, 4th quarter 1941 - but ancestry .com seem reluctant to show the first name of the eley concerned.....I'll bet its Florence though
