Where are you, Margaret? Can't be in England, staining a deck at this time!

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 7 Nov 2008 20:19

small world Margaret. I was born in Middlesbrough but not the " posh" part such as Acklam.

I did find a marriage on the IGI for a Thomas Miller to Jane Barker 14th feb 1820 Guisborough. but that doesnt help much

When I was over in Middlesbrough I bought a set of 17 ordinance survey maps for Middlesbrough. The first one is 1618.
In 1670 100 people lived in Acklam 11 houses paid hearth tax. 11 exempt.
It shows the area in blocks of land with the names of the occupiers. Very interesting.

Must be going now Im going to stain the deck

Thanks Margaret. Loftus was previously called Lofthouse.
Is it possible to look for Samuel Miller the uncle in 1841. Guisbro is really Guisborough Yorkshire.

James Weetman died as James Wheatman occ seaman merchant service. The same occupation is on Elizabeth Alice Wheatman birth cert and her 2 marriage certs.

Thanks everyone.
The 1861/1871 census is correct except Mary Ann Wheatman is Elizabeths daughter. Elizabeth is my husbands gt grandmother.
It looks like James 1863 is also a grandson.
Has anyone found a Catherine Lewis in 1861in the Stockton St Middlesbrough area.

James Wheatman married Ann Pearson in 1837. I didnt find a daughter Catherine on previous census

Can someone please check the image for James Wheatman 1863 Middlesbro living 81 High Garden St Middlesbrough.

I have James Wheatman born 1849 Middlesbrough Ann his mother is born in Loftus. Is James age mistranscribed because his father James died in 1860. I have just received his death cert. On the cert present at the death was Catherine Lewis . No idea who she was
