If there had been a fishing accident I would have found it at the whaling museum in Hull but there isn't one. What a nightmare!

have you tried looking in the local newspaper for a fishing accident - or any other type. A lot of Hull papers are transcribed on line and can be found online at at least some CRO's.

I thought that too but David would have to have been in the merchant navy as I have searched the list of missing trawlermen and his name is not on it. Yes you have found Amy's second marriage .Euphemia was born 21/2/1891 and David Lowden was the informant. She died 8/4/1892 from bronchitis.
If David was lost at sea ,where would the death have been recorded and where would I get a certificate?
Until I can find info on David Williams I am stuck with a great big gap in my family tree .

Maybe David (Williams) was lost at sea and Amy had to wait 7 years before he was presumed dead and she could remarry?

I wonder how Euphemia's birth was recorded?

I think David and his father Richard were skippers on the trawlers but I can't find David in the fishing records. I have found a skippers log written by a skipper called Richard Williams and I will try to follow this up when the kids are back at school.Even if David was away on the trawlers at the time of the census surely I should be able to find a death record?????

The birth certificate definately says his name was David and the marriage certificate has his name as David too. I think David must have died when Lily was quite young and she didn't really know him.

So, Lily's father's name is different on the marriage cert to the birth cert?

This is giving me such a headache, the marriage was 26/10/1882 not 1883. Lilian was born 3/4/1883.
On Lilians marriage certificate , her fathers name is William Williams , skipper deceased.
I really have hit a brick wall with this .I can't find a death record for David .

Janine, are you sure about those birth and marriage dates? I cannot find either Lillian's birth or David and Amy's marriage. Was Lilian born before the marriage and therefore registered as Lilian Arthur?

Can anyone please help? I'm trying to find my g grand-father. His name was David Williams and he was living in Hull in 1883.I have his marriage certificate which says he married my g grand-mother Amy Arthur on 26/10/1883 in Hull. His fathers name was Richard Williams and Richard was a skipper, not deceased at the time of the marriage. I know David died before 1897 because Amy remarried and she was widowed. My grand-mother Lilian Isabella Williams was born 3/4/1883 in Hull.I have checked fishing archives and I know he was not lost at sea but I cannot find him in any records. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
