You may need to obtain her marriage cert............she may not have been a spinster when she married.

1901 so who is this staying with the family could sound the same as Curle

i have seen that, i have the marriage details from Freebmd, but am wondering if there is a mistranscription here

plus i know the name Keirle sic is prominent in the area, i have not seen it spelt curle

how reliable is the spelling on freebmd, or in that case the BMD regs?

i have the refs for my gt grandmothers birth

will order that cert to get mothers maiden name

The spelling on the cert would be the same as on the GRO index - unless somebody has made a C look like a K on the cert.

Probably mishead rather than mistranscribed on the marriage cert.

that is what i was thinking i mean if you heard curl you would spelt it curl not kierle

kierle is a prominent name in north petherton and the surrounding villages even now and this is the area we are looking at

i can find no curles (sic) anywhere near

so i think it has to be a mistranscription

but like i said will order my gt grans birth cert and hopefully that will clarify

Looks like you will have to buy her marriage cert and the birth cert to compare father's names.

If you think Keirle/Kirle/Curle are bad, what about Postans transcribed as Bertani!

i have emailed my dads cousin to see if she knows any names of dorothys parents/siblings to make sure i am on right track here before i order the certs
