Well done Cass!!! I'm impressed at your detective work. I wonder why Tom was shipped back to Canada in 1918 only to travel back to England in 1919. If his family came back in 1912, you'd have thought he would have stayed here at the end of the war.

Oh wait that's them going over to Canada isn't it, in 1912. Silly me. Here they are coming back to England without Sarah. Perhaps she died? They didn't stay very long and I still don't know why Tom went back to Canada.

I 2nd that Liz!

Tom Gledhill married Eunice Rose Sims in 1905.

Children; Joseph c 1907
Phyllis c 1908
Florence c 1911 and after returning from WW1 they have Patricia 1920.
These children were all registered as born Yorkshire.
Ther may be one or two that were born in Canada.

Immigration Canadian Passenger Lists Halifax Nova Scotia November 1912.

Maybe this is Tom's family....Transcription error?

Eunice Gladdall age 26
Joseph age 5
Phyllis age 3
Florence age 1? and a Sarah age 59,Widow?...Tom's Mother!

The children's birth year's seem to coincide with the marriage year of the parent's.

Regard's,Cass

There is this birth which matches with MMs find for Patricia's burial in Halifax. Very strange if it does match, they seem to have been back and forward a few times.

Hi Everyone who has replied to this thread.

A million thank you's from the bottom of my heart. I have always wondered what happened to him and I can't wait to break the news to my living aunt.

Seeing a photo of the grave sent shudders down my spine and had me crying outloud.

Once again thanks everyone, we do indeed have the right Tom Gledhill.

Now it's got me wondering if there are any living decendents? any ideas how I can find out?

For reference, is this the right 1901 census? Seemingly Nostell is near Wakefield so it looks like you have the right one Cass.

The ship's name was the "Neuralia" and it left Avonmouth,England carrying wounded soldier's[WW1], home to Canada.

The mentioned Thomas Gledhill was wounded in his left leg and was going home to Toronto, with next of kin being his wife, which there's no name mentioned.Cass.I'll have another look.

Anyone with access to the ship records please help me to find the destination of my G Grandfathers brother Tom Gledhill.

He was born in 1879 or 1880 because he was 21 on the 1901 census. He was living in Morley in 1901. All I know was from my oldest living relative who is still alive that he emmigraged to Canada and my G Grandfather never saw him again.

Vince Gledhill
