Ipswich record office (try googling for exactly what they hold) probably hold church records for the area so you could look for marriage & baptisms. It can be a long trawl but often worth it in the end. |

to look for a will you need to look at the national probate index for the year he died and possibly the following few years as well. If you find a probate record that fits (they give date of death address and who the executors are plus sometimes wife's name) you can then send off to York Registry for a full copy at a cost of £5. Indices are usually held in County record offices and at some major libraries. |

His mother was born in Lambeth, perhaps they didn't go back to Suffolk and he ended up growing up and marrying in Lambeth? I think you would need to purchase the marriage certificate. |

I think that is def him on the 1901 on census just not sure on the marriage at the mo, i an't see any Robert Swan married in suffolk between 1914 -1925 |

I see from the marriage to Elizabeth Milligan, his middle initial was N. This may be useful in narrowing things down. I don't know if this is him in 1901? |

THese are the only two births I could find for a Swan in Ipswich and nother in Suffolk for the possible mmn's you suggest. Any help? |
