Find Ancestors

Can anyone help with finding out about Alfred Hague. He was born in 1821. We found him and his wife Hannah on the 1851 census living in the hamlet of Dungworth, Bradfield where his age was 30, but we cannot find him on the 1841 census. Also we dont know anything about Hannah i.e. maiden name. Can anyone help.

The 1841 census has the ages rounded down so he could have been 19.

In 1851 it has born 1821 and 1861 born 1822 so it is very likely to be him and his occupation in 1851 is grocer/butcher.

I wouldn't worry about the spelling difference, he is the only one born in the area.

Spellings of names do change over the years, the baptism would be as the vicar wrote it.

As an example, these are baptisms in Bradfield 1811-1823 all with parents William and Sarah so unless there were 2 families with the same names it's very likely they all belong to the same parents.
