Find Ancestors

This is really worth looking at if you are searching relatives in Cheshire.

Just got this email off a new found relative, thought it may be of interest to some people searching Cheshire records.

The Family Search site has now loaded the images of the original parish registers for Cheshire, although they are not indexed yet so you have to look through them page by page.

You will be presented with a list of parishes, scroll down until you come to the one you want and then click Parish Records which should be displaying on the right hand side. Look for the year and type of record you are seeking and then you will have to work your way through the copies of the original records until you come to the date you are looking for. It does take a while for them to load but be patient because it is worth it.

If you are looking at Bunbury, Cheshire a lot of the parish records are missing from about 1704 to 1727 ish, but you will find them on the Bishops Transcripts for same place.

Cant believe how good this is.

Melanie, I think it has been off most of the day according to some people. I cant get on it myself at the moment, although I have emailed them through Feedback and told them it comes up with error 1401, dont know if anything comes of it, I will let you know. It is very frustrating when you find a site as good as this and then it comes up with an error. Hope it doesnt last.

'' Thank you for contacting FamilySearch Support regarding a 1401 error when you tried to log on to the Cheshire Collection. This collection has been removed because of legal reasons and will be returned when those issues are resolved.

As you know, Record Search is still under development. This release is considered a pilot program. That means at times Record Search will not be available while we add additional records and improve some features. We may also remove record collections that have been on the site previously. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We look forward to receiving your feedback. ''

What a pain!! Hope they get their act together soon. Thanks Mel, at least we are aware of it now and can watch for its return.
