Frederic (Eric) Report 10 Oct 2008 01:54

I am trying to find any detail on John Thomas Morrison born 1864 in Thornhill,UK.
Married Mary Jane Hobman August 1885 in Knottingly, West Yorkshire.
Last know address was 16 Foundry Lane, Perth Scotland.

I believe he left his family (12 children in total) sometime after 1910 and travelled to Australia.
Children's names were:
Henrietta, Ann, John (my gt grandfather), Fred, Minnie, Elizabeth, Mary, Norah, Colin, Ena, Annice and Wilfred.

Am interested in hearing from anyone that may have any information as I am trying to work through the Morrison family tree.

Many thanks!!

Individuals who may want to contact me can send a message to me via GR.

Regards,
Eric Wolske (Morrison/Henderson)
Melbourne Australia.

Hello again!
Irene was kind enough back in 2008 to note that she found John Thomas Morrison on the 1891 Census - a glassblower, born Doncaster.

I do know that he was in fact a glassblower (from 1910 marriage record of his son in Scotland).

What I am trying to find for certain is his parents details. Is someone able to verify his age based on the 1891 Census, so that I can hopefully narrow down his birth record.

I also know that he married Mary Jane Hobman C1885 I believ in Knottingly, West Yorkshire.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hi Gael and Sylvia,
Seems "Irene" found him somewhere. Unfortunately she has not noted the census record in her original repsonse.

If you got the marriage certificate for John Thomas and Mary Jane, that would tell you his father's name, and thus whether this could possibly be him with his family

I think, only think, that those two girls could be called Lavinia, and possibly Henrietta!

Hi Jacky

I like the name of his father Frederick, and sister Henrietta ... picked up in his own children.

but it's all guess work

Frederic really should get John Thomas' marriage certificate to get the name of his father!

I think we should leave them all up for Frederic to see.

Hi again Sylvia and Jacky,
This gives me a great start.

I am 100% positive he married Mary Jane Hobman. I have her death death record which verified what I knew of her side of the family.

Based on the 1871 Census, this could be him. I was relying on a hunch that his father was Fred/Frederick (which is how I ended up with it through my grandfather also).

The 1891 Census info under Marrison also matches some of the initial stuff I found on the family. There were I believe another 8 children after this as Mary Jane was left alone in Scotland with 12 children.

This really does help heaps!! Now I have at least a rough year of birth and as you say getting a copy of his marriage record will help even more.

THANKS SO MUCH ladies - this is great stuff.

I had a personal message from Frederic and replied that the entry was
under John T Marrison but when you look at the actual census page it is Morrison. Have sent him a personal reply. Thank you for looking for him - silly of me not to put my findings in his original message. Irene
