I saw this one record on Nat Archives/ documents on line, but i wouldnt like to say it was him,To obtain this will cost £3-50

Thank you. I have downloaded the forms so at least that's a start. I shall wait to hear from my much older brothers and sisters to see if they have a better idea of time frames and things. Now you have pointed out his age, it does seem unlikely for WW2. It's quite difficult to sort out when you have very little knowledge of your grandfather, as he died when I was three, and trying to piece together my family tree, it makes me feel I know him slightly better.

Its a bit of a drawn out procedure, you have to complete certificates of kinship etc, but as detail will be required, but have a look at the info it does explain it all.
Not sure though that your Grandad would be in the Second World War given he was born in 1895, unless of course he was a Regular and not a conscript.Just a thought

If it is WW2 then you have to apply to the Veterans Agency , here is the link which explains the procedure. Medals awarded to a particular servicemen in WW2 is not available online.

Grandad was born about 1895, so he may have been in the 1st world war. His name was James Thomas Chapman and he was in the Navy, that's all I know really, apart from the fact my sister had seen his medals, when she was younger.
