Find Ancestors

I need help to find if there was more than one Margaret West born in 1903 in Stockton on Tees.

I know there was one, father - Thomas West, mother - Mary Willis, but the one I am looking for has Thomas West as father and mother Frances Turnbull. Also if West/Turnbull had any other children.

Margaret West is my grandmother and I have desperately trying to find her birth cert. for a year!!

Do you know when her birthday was? If she was born around Christmas time, this could be her.

I've had a look through the indexes for 1903 and there are no Margaret West's registered in Stockton that year.

Unfortunately there were 4 Margaret Wests born in 1904 in Stockton/South Shields. I have all the birth Certificates!! One in 1902 not that one either.

None of the details on her marriage cert matched any of them but I am running out of options and as I am relatively inexperienced in tracing family history, I didn't know if there was someone who could find another one that I couldn't!!

Do you know when she died? She would be registered under her married name. Perhaps we could work back from that.

Are you sure about the mothers maiden name? as their is a marriage of a Frances Thompson to a Thomas west in 1901.

and a marriage of a frances turnbull to a matthew slater in 1898

Thanks for that BUT....(Theres always a but!) She died in 1936 age 33 in South Shields. Although I know her husband was John W Thompson, she was at that time was living with my grandfather William Storey Hewson as I saw in the Electoral roles.But never got married to W S Hewson.

I think I know just about know everything about this woman apart from her exact birthdate and confirmation of her mother!!

I am completely baffled.

My mistake!! I keep saying Turnbull when it should be Frances THOMPSON, she I believe is my g grandmother. It also gets confusing that Margaret West married a thompson!!

I believe she had a sister called Isabella although she was definately born in Stockton in 1912.

I originally thought Margtaret was born in South Shields but her father and sister were born in Stockton. Although it is possible she was born in another area I think I have tried everywhere within the Durham/Northumberland area.

I can find no birth for a Isabella West born 1912 Stockton on tees on the GRO index or on the teesvalley-indexes the birth must have been missed of the index if you have got the original birth cert

Lynn, Yes they do searches, they did one for me to cover a 5 year period and only charged me the £7 for the cert but that was 4 years ago so they may have changed things a bit now.
