Now I found but cant remember where a Hannah Stephens living as a lodger at the age of 64 i think it was.

So maybe only he died and she couldnt cope give the baby away and moved? not sure but thanks for the info will keep it on board

Ok so this is how far I have gotten so far

Sheridan Fenn = me
My Father Brian Fenn 1941
His Parents Thomas Fenn (1912) Edna Burrows
Thomas's Parents Alfred Fenn (1883) and Edith Freeman (1890)
Alfred's Parents Robert Fenn (1861) Mary Hopkins (1857)
Roberts Parents Robert Fenn (1836) Hannah (1836)

So my next quest would be to go back further than This Robert and Hannah.

I was thinking about all the posts I have read and where it looks like their son Robert was adopted by thier neighbours.

Maybe Robert and Hannah Died while their son Robert was young This would explain why he was the sole occupier when he was only 5yrs old maybe

Im gonna go look now see if I can find anything in the death records

If you have Alfred's birth certificate that should have the maiden name of Mary on it???

I dont have Roberts birth cert nor do I have his marriage, or death cert

and I dont have his fathers birth cert either who also was called Robert, Who with the looks of it is the Robert you two found

I have birth certs up til Alfred Fenn who was the son of Robert Fenn, which is the Robert you guys think that was adopted by the next door neighbours.

This might be how my family came to live in the Burnley area.

As all the names are matching up so far.

Buy some certs to sort this out.

Get one of the childrens first to get the maiden name of the mother.

Then see if it matches the possible 1882 marriage. If it does then buy that cert. If it does not then you will have to look for another possible marriage.

So now i'll go and look for his parents maybe brothers and sisters see what comes up there

Omg thats so good............ I had the first census where he was married and with children.

I didnt know about him being a lodger tho and thats good and finding the one before with his parents is even better.

I think that Charlotte and Richard are the same people on all the census we have posted.

Just noticed Glitter's post about the 1851 census.

Do you think this Charlotte and Richard just liked changing their surname?

Perhaps there was something strange about them adopting Robert and then changing their names and moving out of the area (or am I just getting carried away with myself, lol).

This is Robert Fenn (the father) on the 1841 census but for some reason he seems to be down as living on his own (but he's only 5 ???). He is living in the same house as Charlotte and Richard Harris, but is classed as a separate household.
