Ive just had a look, i hadnt before, just took it as read (lesson learnt there). It does say 79 - I asked some of my family and they agreed.

That makes his brith 1771 (aprox). Will have another look..

Having cheched the image i think Joseph's age is mis-transcribed? it looks more like 79 years old than 59 years old

I dont suppose there is as good a trail for the Hootons is there?

I have Mary Hooton born possibly 1810 (from familysearch.org) and her father Joseph, who appears on the census with them in 1851 aged 59. Apx year of birth for Joseph then would be 1792.

this is amazing - is this from the IGI? I can never find what I want on that site!

ohh roy, you could be onto something there!! That seems very plausible. My grandfather was born at Toynton St Peter. and other marriages in the family took place at Toynton All Saints.

So his wife's name could have been Mary Shelley?!

you say in your original post that the Wrights where from the Toynton/Wainfleet/New Leaker area?

Libby - I do have access but sometimes I just cant see for looking. I do have a good look myself first but often others think of trying a different way of searching (ie different spelling or something). But thank you for the offer - if the folio number is handy, that would be appreciated though. Thanks very much.

Carol - I will bear this in mind. Its difficult trying to research when you get back to parish records. I dont know enough about how to find them yet but Im learning as I go along!

BY a false trail I though my relatives were Hooten and they orignated from Norfolk, so if you go back far enough they may origiante from there.

Thank you Libby - yes, that certainly looks like them - the name Walden is in a list I have.

Most of the info came from ancestry searches and browsing familysearch.org and Ive put it all together based on the locations of the births etc.

Edward had a daughter Ada in 1885 who is my great grandmother.

I notice that on the 1851 census there is a Joseph Hooton with them - which I presume is Mary's father and confirms my suspicions that Hooton was her maiden name!

And your last entry Libby, I would say is very likely to be my Michael and gives his father!! I wonder if we could find a marriage for William and Mary?

where have you info come from?

i thought 1851 was a good start point - but I cannot even see them on that

Michael and Mary are my G3 grandparents and I would love to find out more about them.

Here is what I know.

Their son Edward (b1846) married Sarah Orrey (or Orry) in 1873. The whole family, both Wrights and Orreys, are from Lincolnshire, around the Toynton/Wainfleet/New Leaker area.

I found a marriage for Michael and Mary in 1827, giving Mary's surname as Hooton. I am assuming, given the nearby location of the wedding, that these are correct.

I would love to know more if anyone can help me find anything. I have searched over family search.org but often cannot pinpoint my relatives accurately.

Please can anyone help?
