Hi Samantha

I clicked on the (Click here to skip this stuff ....)

Click on England

Click on Yorkshire A-D

Click on B

scroll down to Bubwith

Click on any of the C P or M numbers

Enter surname in search box

then you'll just have to scan down the names to see if any match up with yours.

You can click on the name to see what the actual record says (they're all taken from the Parish Register) so you should be able to see parents names or spouse's surname

I would put the Hugh Wallis site in your Favourites List, then you don't have to keep entering that huge long address!

The quick glance I ahd seemed to show that you might be very lucky and find something!!

You can even get 3 or more with the same name, before one survives to adulthood .... or the parents gave up!!

I never thought of one dying and a second being named after the first.

Kathleen

Kathleen Report 2 Sep 2008 20:58

Many families used the same name for a child if the earlier one died, so the later birth is more likely.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 2 Sep 2008 20:57

It could be that the first one died and a second born was given the same name ...... very common in theose days

you could search for yourself on the IGI

go to www.familysearch.org
click on Advanced Search
scroll down to International Genealogical Index

Do be careful of SUBMITTED vs EXTRACTED records.

SUBMITTED are entries sent in by members of the Momron church are are not substantiated by documentation. Be very very careful of them, do not add them to your tree unless and until you have managed to verify them

EXTRACTED records have been taken from the actual records and are as accurate as any other such records :)))

Or try the IGI Batch Numbers that Hugh Wallis set up some years ago. It hasn't been updated for several years, but is still very useful
