Thanks for your input, as I said I have 2 possible dates for him but cannot find his birth registered for certain unless it is the on above badly misspelt.

I have 2 dates for his birth 1 the 8th April 1921 and the other 12th April 1920. Not certain which is right.

Alfie Bass is London Cockney rhyming slang for gas

Abraham Basalinksy.
I have been told that Alfie's sister married my husbands grandfathers brother but I cannot find a birth reference for either him or his sister. The nearest I could find was Abraham B Grabeshesky. Bethnal Green 1c 277 Jun Q 1921 mothers maiden name Birnbaum. Would someone mind taking a look please. As I am not convinced one way or the other. His Sister was known to my husbands grandfather as Aunt Sally.
