Thanks once more to everyone who has helped me, I have added some of the info to my grandma's family, and have a lot more to add, ive also more idea how to go about it.

Can anyone tell me why a lot of info was deleted, luckily I had taken lots of notes, but am not sure how much was lost. I t seems an insult to the people who did the research, to have it taken off.

is this normal practise, I was hoping to go back many times to reread and take off more information.

Thanks again to you all, you give your time and experience to help us new and very raw starters. Maybe one day we'll be able to return the favour to someone else just starting out like I am.

When I first read about doing a tree, the advise I was given was to check, check and recheck all info, so , if some of you thought I was ignoring there research, I wasn't , I was just trying to validate it, but didn't know how.

Thanks again,

Irene x

Since the 1891 census has mysteriously disappeared from this thread -I'll put it in again together with the 1881 so that all censuses are now together here
1881 14 Priory Road Pendleton
Robert Jones 27 Beamer in Cotton Mill b Flixton
Mary Jones 23 b Manchester
Elizabeth 2 Pendleton
Emma 2 Pendleton
John 6mths b Pendleton
Sarah Wilson 21 lodger Warper in Mill b Pendleton
(possibly Mary's sister)

1891 16 Hodgson St Pendleton
Robert Jones 33 Beamer in Cotton Mill b Flixton
Mary A Jones 34 b Pendleton
Emma 12
Elizabeth 12
John 10
Robert 8
Thomas 6
Alfred 3
Alice 1
Harry 1mth all b Pendleton
I have not managed to find Eliza Morrell in 1841

Going back to 1861 (the first year Eliza is described as "wife") I have traced the childrens births and Alice Joseph and Rachel were all reg as Morrell and John and Robert were reg as Jones which makes it difficult to draw a line and say these children were Thomases, and these were Elizas and these were both
The positioning of Eliza Morrell in the 1851 census (after Mary and Ann) would seem to indicate that she was the mother of John, Alice and Joseph but only their birth certs might show who was their father.

GillianMac Report 29 Aug 2008 13:48

In 1841 Thomas Jones is 40 Gardener and living in Flixton with children
Harriet 14
George 12
Mary 7
Ann 4
Robert 10 (who must have died young for the later Robert to be named for him)
and a female sevant Ann gilbody aged 15
So Thomas as presumably a widower at this time and I cant trace his wife except that she was Anne from the baptism of Harriet 10/5/1827 Eccles

What exactly is it you feel is needed? Itseems to me you have all the evidence you need provided by people above.Elizabeth was the daughter of Robert and Mary Wilson -after her death he married Eliza Eden
Robert was the son of Thomas Jones and Eliza Morrell and you have details of the siblings in the censuses. Even the brother you mention at the beginning (Harold) would be the Harry shown 1901 as 9 years old

Thank you again, but it is not the Gee family I am looking for, I have that already, it' my grandmothers side of the family, She was ELIZABETH JONES MORRELL, born along with a twin sister EMMA JONES MORRELL Dec 29th 1878 in PENDLETON, SALFORD daughters of ROBERT JONES MORRELL, He was born approx 1855, and I beleive was married to MARY, possibly WILSON.

It's also possible he was widowed, but I can't find anything about that, and married Eliza.

I can find very little to back any of this, except his name and his twindaughters, which I know for fact.

not sure where to go from here, thanks again,

Irene

only cert; can be 100%

If you go to free bdm there are a lot of births after the marriage for olliver Gee to elizabeth 1901 up to 1920s in Salford but unless you know who their children were it will be very difficult,

Thank you for you help, I have spent the last 3 hours trying to veryfy this information, I have been on the Family search .org site, thanks for that info to 'Ericthered'. but can only find details of 'Robert gee' and his parents, but not who he was married too, or his children.
Putting Elizabeth Jones Morrell in, just seems to draw a blank.

I am trying, very, s my husband would say, but am not getting very far.

I even started with my dad, Oliver Gee,born Sep 1910, Elizabeths son, but got nowhere.

Can someone please tel me where to look for info, and also how to prove it is correct.

Sorry to be a nuisance, but thanks again,

Irene

Eureka ! think this might give the Morrell connectiom
1851 Flixton (penny lane)
Thomas Jones 50 Wid Gardener Llangollen
Mary 17
Ann 15
John 8
Alice 3
Joseph 6 mths all b Flixton
ELIZA MORRELL 30 House servant

So it looks as if Thomas had children with Eliza but never married her (cant find a marriage in 1850s) and so the children were legally reg as Jones Morrell but opted to use only Jones for the censuses

GillianMac

GillianMac Report 28 Aug 2008 13:29

In 1901 at 27 Priory Road Pendleton -the address given at the head of this thread are
Robert Jones 43 Seamer in Cotton factory b Eccles
Eliza Jones 48 b Broughton
Eliza (this would be Elizabeth 22 Winder
Emma 22 Warper
John 20 Tripe processor
Robert 18 Cottton factory
Thos 16
Alf 13
Alice 11
Harry 9
Ernest 6
All children bor Pendleton
