All the info on here is what you were givin nearly a year ago, i know this hobby isn't cheap i have the names of Lee, Brown & Smith in my tree

Like i have said before it like you don't believe what was said to you back then, i also think it unfair that you won't spend to get a cert but its ok for people to spend on searches for you

Yes, Julie is correct, Unfortunately, I am still looking for more info on Susan - in particular her marriage
( it must be out them somewhere - surely ).

I have info of a birth - Elizabeth - but as it was only a 'maybe' the child of Susan, I didnt want to rush to get the birth cert. They are expensive, ( I dont have lots of money ) and as you know, you could end up buying lots of certs, only to find they are red-herrings or dont give the info that you are looking for.

I am trying to gather as much info as possible - before - spending too much.

I really appreciate everyones help.
Susan is my great-grandmother and I nothing much about her & her background.

Those 2 were take off the 1881 census..

I couldn't find their marriage, so the only other way is to get one of the childrens B/C

Well that would be the best way to go then - it would give mum's maiden name which might be easier to find!

There is a birth on FreeBMD of Elizabeth Hannah Fowkes, June Q 1877, Leicester. (7a 214)

BVRI is British Vital Records Index, a set of discs that I have.

Have you tried to find the birth reg for Elizabeth?

I have looked there too and cant find it either. ( sorry, what is BVRI)?

Can't find the marriage on Familysearch, FreeBMD or BVRI.

That's all anyone else would do....................

According to 1881 census first child Elizabeth was born 1877. Last name there was Foukes but someone has added a correction to Fowkes. Actually father's name was transcribed Arthur T. Fouke, original is definitely John T. Foukes.

Have looked at familysearch...cant find anything.
I know that they had a child in 1878/9 so guess that they married in c1878. They lived in Leicesterand a later census says that Susan is from Basford, Notts..

Have you tried FreeBMD?

Longshot I know, but I would guess that they married in Leicester.
