Hi All. Ive booked into the Sheffield archives on Sat 30th Aug. They hold most parish records for Sheffield and some of Rotherham and a couple of Barnsley. If I can help you at all with a look up, please let me know as much details as possible and I will have a look for you. Please note that they are only on fiche up to aprox 1902 so can only look at records before this date as they dont get originals out on Saturdays. Kind Regards, Claire

Hi Claire,

I would really like to find out more information about Harriet Woolhouse. I believe she was born c1809 (could be later she is shown on the 1841 census as being born in 1815) in the Sheffield area (but could be Rotherham). She married William Ulley (Hulley) on 31 October 1831 in Rotherham. The Ulley/Hulley family came from the Ecclesfield area of Sheffield.

Any information on Harriets family birth date, christening, parents etc would be very, very welcome. I have been trying to trace this branch for quite a while but always failed to make progress.

Also, if you have time, I would appreciate information on Harriets Mother- in - law Mary Walker. Again could be born Rotherham or Sheffield. Married Joseph Ulley 8 Jul 1798 (Rotherham), born 1774, died 1831

Many thanks inanticipation.

Sandra

Hey Claire

Thanks so much for the offer.

Can you look at the birth/christening of Emily Hollingsworth in Sheffield please? I dont have a more precise location, but the date given is 26th June 1848.

I want to make sure that she is the daughter of Henry Hollinsworth and Eliza France before I go ordering the cert.

I may have something else for you to look at, but I'll have to do a little more research into it.

So I may be back :D

SANDRA

I had a quick look at the entry of the marriage of William Hulley and Harriet Woolhouse and it was at All Saints Parish Church, Rotherham on the 31st October 1831. Stated both of the parish and witnesses were Thomas Woolhouse and Louise Inman.

Found a baptism of Harriet Woolhouse at St Mary's, Ecclesfield on the 19th June 1814. She was the daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth Woolhouse of Creswick (couldnt read 2nd word) and he was a grinder.

I am really sorry but couldnt find the baptism of Emily. Tried the cathedral and St Mary's, Ecclesfield which were the obvious two places and nothing found for her.

MARTIN

The marriage of Charles Lee and Ann Baines was at All Saints Parish Church, Rotherham on the 10th January 1836.

I am sorry I couldnt check anything else as the parish records for Swinton are held at the Rotherham Library and not Sheffield.

SHARON

I didnt have any joy with Charlotte Stafford. I looked through the whole of 1779 at St Mary's, Ecclesfield but nothing for her. Wasnt sure where else to check with her saying she was born St Mary.

Also, Silkstone is part of Barnsley, near Doncaster and Sheffield didnt hold any records for Silkstone.
