Absolutley no idea at all. My Grandmother died in 1942 and before that Dad was in a home/evacuated to Wales. No idea where Vera was but I guess she may have also been in a home. Dad found her when on army leave but lost her again. He has tried to find her in the past when I was a little girl but no luck. The internet is a wonderful tool so I have been trying off and on but so far have drawn a blank. I have been looking at my marriage possibilites again and have whittled it down to the
3 or 4 most likely to be her so I guess i have to bite the bullet and order them.

Hi Suzanne
Do you have any idea which area she might have married in?

Its very sad dad hasnt seen her in 60 odd years isnt it! Did no one go to the wedding? No idea who she was marrying?

No you're right but unfortunately I have nothing else to go on. My Dad (her brother) last saw her in 1945 when she said she was getting married. I have no known relatives on the Taylor side. I was hoping that the name might mean something to someone out there because, apart from ordering loads of certs, I'm not really sure what else to do. Any suggestions gratefully received.

But she would not be Taylor now would she? Can you find any more information from relatives to cut down the time span for the marriage?

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 17 Aug 2008 23:21

Yes - have already done that but Taylor is a common name and there is alot of entries that fit. As you can imagine the cost of ordering the certs is a little prohibitive (unless you can advise me of any other way that I have not discovered). I was hoping there might be a chance that someone recognised the name Vera Grace Taylor. She will be 80 this November so there is a chance that she is still alive

That is a very big ask.

You need access to the FULL BMD's on either Ancestry or Findmypast. Then a long trawl through the images, quarter by quarter and year by year, from the age she could have married.

Looking for info on Vera Grace, born November, 1928 in London. I think she may have married in late forties/early fifities but do not have any more details. Can anyone assist please?
