Dot for you have a mariage cert for Ernest? I just wondered if it has any siblings as witnesses, just hoping to find a sibling born before 1901 census!!!!!!!!!
looks like you might have to wait for the 1911 census to find them and confirm where Edward was born .

Shona Report 12 Aug 2008 03:43

I am not sure their seems to be so many, and I can't think of any way to confirm any of these. I suppose if we could put Thomas and Edward in the same household but then trying to find out how old Thomas was It is getting so confusing.
But you never know I might stummble onto something.
Thanks Janice.

Thanks Janice. Now I don't want to sound like a total idiot, but I guess that is unavoidable ha ha, But were you refering to Edward in the 1901 census as a bricklayer, only on his marriage cert it states his Profession as a Shoemaker Master and Thomas as a Bricklayer. Just a little confussed.
once again Thanks for your effort.
Cheers Shona

Yes, Her father's name was Edward Roberts (deceased at the time of their Marriage) as was Esward's Father Thomas.
I Have addresses for them at the time of their marriage if that is any help.
Edward: 6 Hester Street, Greenk(h)eys
Martha: 5 Copinger Street
Greenk(h)eys I am assuming that is in the District of Chorlton where they were Married.

Hi Janice,
Ernest was born 1/5/1902, Chorlton upon Medlock County of Manchester.
Martha Annie Molloy (nee Roberts) was 25 when she married Edward who was 36.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Shona.

when/where was Ernest born
how old was Martha on the marriage cert? and her fathers details

Tillot Report 7 Aug 2008 18:10

Hi Shona,

On a marriage cert for England and Wales, only the father's name is mentioned on the cert. It makes no difference whether it is a church or registry office.

How old is Edward at his marriage in 1898?

With an approx age for him, we can then look in census records and hopefully find him with his father, Thomas and his mother and any siblings. Hopefully, we can then get back further and find Thomas with his parents possibly.
